Interdisciplinary Studies is a way of acquiring, processing, and applying knowledge. It is a proactive approach involving making connections between intellectual frameworks, or areas of academic training. It provides the opportunity to bring about change in the individual and the wider world. Through the practice of Interdisciplinary Studies the learner ideally expands their perspective and approach to thinking. It facilitates the studying of diverse, complex, and novel topics in an academic environment, but also provides a foundation for the development of more advanced interdisciplinary practices. Unique experience, knowledge, methods, and skills are developed along the way. The interdisciplinary individual (or group) has the potential to have a more well rounded approach than those with a single specialization. This way of learning and working is beneficial to humanity because it offers the potential to develop unique creativity, and further advance the development of solutions to the most complex problems we face.
